11:30am: Greg McKenna - My journey from Fundamental to Technical Trader

In this presentation Greg will discuss,

- His journey from fundamental analysis to becoming a trader who never trades unless the charts confirm an entry.

- The important role that fundamental analysis plays in his trading and how he combines it with charts.

- His strategy for trading forex and other markets which present elements of cyclicality.

- The reason why, if he were allowed only one indicator, it would be a trend line.

- What he learned from a Michael Covel podcast and how it led to his JimmyR indicator.

Greg McKenna has been involved in financial markets for close to 30 years, having begun his career in Westpac’s Sydney dealing room in 1988 at the ripe young age of 18. Over that time, he has worked in sales and trading, managed billions of dollars as a portfolio manager at NSW State Super, and was Australia’s first fulltime currency strategist at Westpac in the late 1990s before he moved across to the National Australia Bank. Greg has both an undergraduate and Master’s degree in finance from Monash and Macquarie Universities respectively, and currently works for himself as a private trader as well as writing for AxiTrader as its Chief Market Strategist. Greg writes daily on economics, financial markets, commodities and forex, combining fundamental analysis with the technical approach to trading that he has learned over the years. Greg’s charting experience comes via some important mentors, what he has learned from studying, and by “just doing it”. So, whilst not being formally qualified as a chartist, he is able to combine his financial skills in his daily writings.
